The story: Drawing from over 40 years of Marvel comic books for inspiration, Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark spins a new take on the mythic tale of a young man propelled from a modest rowhouse in Queens to the sky-scraping spire of the Chrysler Building, the bustling offices of the Daily Bugle, through the dizzying canyons of Manhattan, to new vistas never before seen. The musical follows the story of teenager Peter Parker, whose unremarkable life is turned upside-down— literally—when he’s bitten by a genetically altered spider and wakes up the next morning clinging to his bedroom ceiling. This bullied science-geek—suddenly endowed with astonishing powers—soon learns, however, that with great power comes great responsibility as villains test not only his physical strength but also his strength of character. The Swatch New Gents Collection True Colors Competition
Swatch challenged fashion editors, bloggers and trend setters to style the Swatch New Gent Collection, shown above, and discover their “True Colours." Editorial magazine layouts and video presentations were submitted by well known magazines like Wallpaper, Interview, and i-D, fashion and style related sites like Style.com and bloggers like BryanBoy and Diane Pernet.
Swatch is now asking readers to vote on the submissions. By voting, you are entered into a drawing in which you could win one of the colorful New Gent watches.
Below are the competing magazines and a sample spread from each of them, in no particular order:
Kinki: Hooligan: Cleo: Neo2: Open: All Magazine: Interview: Wallpaper: Elle Greece: Faces: Gustav: Milk: Vice: 1626: Pulp:
The accompanying videos seem to be a combination of "making of videos" of the editorial spreads and on camera explanations and pitches from those who received the Open Brief from Swatch. Some seem to be music videos or motion graphics.
It seemed unclear as to whether or not the submissions upon which you are asked to vote will actually appear as editorial spreads in the magazine or not, but a reader tells me they are.
As it hit the newsstands in Milan two days ago, the September issue of Vogue Italia had a cover that looked a little different. Why? Because it was shot in Vogue's newest photography frontier, 3D. Enclosed with the Italian issue was a special pair of 3D vision glasses.
Although I'm sharing the cover, the whole editorial and the backstage video of the shoot here with you, you'll need to wear the 3D glasses to see the cover and the editorial the way it was truly meant to be seen. Besides, who doesn't want to see Miranda Kerr's natural assets in three dimensions?
Shot by photography master Steven Meisel, the September issue features 22 pages of the sexy Australian model (and the newly pregnant wife of Orlando Bloom) Miranda Kerr.
Thanks to the possibility of seeing in three dimensions, Vogue images will acquire a totally new power, crossing the borders of fashion photo shoots, to strengthen even more the very high quality pictures, which have always been the trademark of the magazine.
And a look at the backstage video of the photo shoot.
Also, for Vogue Italia readers, the 3D surprises of the September issue carry on in The Scent of the Future, a story shot by Tim Walke. image credits – Video posted and scanned images scanned from mayfrayn @ TFS, Vogue Italia
