Mattel Releases New Fine Art Dolls. The DaVinci, Van Gogh & Klimt Barbies.



Recently introduced at this year's Toy Fair were three new Barbie dolls by Mattel that pay homage to some of the world's most famous artists. 14th century Master Leonardo Da Vinci, Impressionist Vincent Van Gogh and Art Nouveau painter Gustav Klimt have been immortalized as soon to be released Barbies. The dolls clothing, make up, hair styles and jewelry are inspired by Da Vinci's Mona Lisa, Van Gogh's Starry Night and Klimt's portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer.

Not yet in the stores, the dolls are available for pre-order at the links below.

Finally, You Can Get Your Own Bad Robot! The Limited Edition Mascot Maquette.





You may recognize this little guy from the closing of J.J. Abrams' popular tv shows like LOST, Fringe and Alias or the sign off on the latest Star Trek movie. The mascot for the production company, shown below [looped] in the 2 second television sign-off, Bad Robot, is now available in a special limited edition made by Quantum Mechanix.



Offered to the public for the first time, this mischievous mascot of Bad Robot Productions stands 10-inches tall and is cast in solid polystone. Sculpted from the original digital model, each statue in this 1,000 piece edition is hand painted in exceptional detail and features modular arms. Every Bad Robot Maquette is individually numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity, and as a special bonus, the unique sculpture includes a removable Slusho drink that fits in his little robot craw.

Mattel Taps Into Sexy Classic TV Icons For 5 Soon To Be Released Barbie Dolls.




Mattel has already created wonderful Barbie dolls from some of cinema's sexiest female characters, such as Marilyn Monroe and the James Bond Girls set 1 and 2 , as well as the hot female 80's music icons Joan Jett, Cyndi Lauper and Debbie Harry (Blondie).

But now they are reaching back to classic TV pop culture and filling the prepubescent fantasies of many of my male peers.

Now available for pre-order at $34.99 each are a slew of female tv series characters that set many a young male's loins ablaze in the 70s and 80s.

The new I Dream Of Jeannie (Barbara Eden) Barbie doll, the Bewitched Samantha Stephens (Elizabeth Montgomery) Barbie doll, the Beverly Hillbillies' Elly May Clampett (Donna Douglas) Barbie Doll and the cat-fighting rich bitches from Dynasty, Krystal Carrington (Linda Evans) and Alexis (Joan Collins) Barbie dolls will be released this coming December, 2010 and in January 2011.
